Searching for Lichen

Just as school is fast approaching we thought it might be a good idea to take the kiddos out for one last family adventure in the 83′ Jamboree or as we call her “Ol Bessie.

We decided to go to a place we had never been before. So we headed NE to Leavenworth Washington. If you’ve never been its quite the experience. You drive to the middle of nowhere to find a little “German town.” It is cheesy, quaint and surrounded by the most beautiful mountains and river. This was the view from our camper each morning.

Of course I’m trying to relax but I couldn’t help but do a little lichen hunting by the river. The terrariums are going fast at the store and now I have a huge supply of lichen, moss, bark and natural dried flower to make some beautiful new creations.

I had two little helpers and the best moss sniffer around “Maggie Moo.” It became a game for the entire family. As true boys can be, they were competing to see who could find the biggest piece of lichen.

Now it’s back to the fun part. I can’t wait to show you the final product that I put together from my bounty that I collected scavenging through the woods.
